Using Wiki's to help

One of the things that I liked about last nights class was the fact that it caused our advocacy group to do some thinking. We were ready to go ahead and start working on individual pieces of our position paper, when someone said "hey why don't we place it on our pbwiki site and edit it as a group."

That's when it clicked for me this is what Wiki's can do, it opens up a world where we don't have to all be in the same room working together on the paper. To be able to have the option no matter where in the world you are to create, edit, colloborate, and anything else is just so cool and powerful. This reminds me of something out of those future movies...it's now becoming reality.

I can't imagine where times are going with this...read/write/web is going to become such an integral part of our lives...people get ready to shift!

Josh I got the same feeling last night. It was great to do group work that way.

Funny thing...we did the same thing. Imagine that if we got other teachers involved with this technology how excited they would become. This colloboration is just what we mean when we talk about 21st century learning.

Imagine that! I experienced the same thing with my group and for a slightly larger perspective realized that I can participate in the last two classes due to the attributes of the Wiki even though I will be out of town. Way cool. It is starting to sink how these can be used...how fun!

You're right, Josh. This is a great way to collaborate. I think of students using this and how it can effect so many learners in different ways. Some learn by writing, some by reading, and of course, some by listening. And all of these intelligences can be touched using wikis and blogs as learning tools.
